Useful PS3 Tips and Tricks

Unstable WiFi Connections

When downloads linger longer than normal or the connection seems unstable, look around the room. Make sure there is a direct line of sight between the router and the PS3 antenna. Furniture and other objects can easily disrupt the signal. Place the router on a high shelf out of the way of possible interference. The PS3 antenna is located on the right side of the device. With the console positioned on its left edge, the antenna will be elevated and more susceptible to reception.

Take an empty soda can, cut the top off, and punch a hole in the bottom large enough to fit over the router antenna. Make vertical cuts down the sides of the can and fan them out slightly to resemble an open flower. Place the soda can over the router antenna and point it in the direction of the Playstation 3. This trick will reportedly improve signals up to 10%.

Free Video Communication

Inexpensive USB headsets with microphones and any type of PC web camera, or Xbox 360 accessories cam will quickly turn the PS3 into a video communication device. Plug both devices into the USB ports. Go to the friends menu and choose a friend by pressing the triangle. Choose “start new chat” and type a message alerting that friend to connect with you via his/her Playstation 3. Of course, the other person must also have headset and webcam devices plugged into a PS3. The friend will receive the message and be given the option to accept a chat. Two windows will open, one for each person. By repeating the steps, up to six persons can conference without the price of a phone call.

Transform DVD’s into HD

Non-enhanced videos may appear hideous on a large screen plasma or lcd tv. dvd polishing technology is built into the PS3. While watching a DVD on the Playstation using the HD mode, press the triangle and choose AV settings. Select an option for blocking, framing, noise reduction or full upscale. The technique also applies to saved videos.

Sony PSP and PS3 Options

If a sony psp owner has a large enough Pro Duo Memory stick, games are quickly transferred between the two players, allowing the handheld greater functionality. Games can be downloaded from the PS store onto the Playstation 3. Locate the PS1 game in the game column of XMB and press the triangle button. Select the copy option and click. Connect the sony psp through the USB and follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

Sometimes, accessing the PS store via a computer is more convenient. Log in using the PSN account code and copy downloaded products onto a removable storage device. Transfer the data to the Playstation 3 using the USB or SD device.

PS3 mod (6 USB ports: 4 front & 2 rear)

Filed under: Tips, Tricks and Useful Information. — Tags: , , — ps3used @ 3:28 AM August 29, 2010

My PS3 now boasts six (6) fully functional USB ports, the original four in front, and two (2) in the rear. We used the facilities of SkyFiber Inc. R&D lab for our work location as this is a seriously complex (and frightening) mod. www.SkyFiber.com Since their are no schematics or plans anywhere on the net to do this, we had a-lot of head scratching and hurdles to deal with, but in the end it worked out very well as you can see. Basically what we’ve done is cut the data path from the internal USB controller chip on the PS3 to the #4 USB port (the one closest to the center). We then wired the upstream connection on the “external” hub to the PS3′s data output on those traces, thus tricking the PS3 into thinking there’s a regular four port hub plugged into the front. After that, we wired a downstream cable from the “external” hub back to the PS3′s front USB port. To activate the two rear USB ports we simply ran 2 pairs of data lines from the “external” hub. All power to and from the “external” hub was handled with and old IDE HDD ribbon cable trimmed down to three wires power, negative, and ground. The results: 1. It works with no limitations 2. Anything can be plugged into the front and rear USB ports. This includes charging your Sixaxis controller, more hubs, Playstation Eye, external HDD, etc. 4. This setup is a true USB hub and I absolutely love it! I must give a BIG thank-you to jasonuscg (youtube.com for all the promotion work on the previous video, thanks man! I am

Gamers Against the PlayStation®3 v3.21 Firmware Update www.facebook.com About the video: I made this in about 1 hour after feeling the need to express my feelings about how Sony royally screwed all existing customers of PS3 Phats. Some things to note: I have no qualms with GeoHot and support him 100%. I don’t like the real Hitler. Despite my current hatred for Sony, I don’t think every company is without its flaws. About my feelings on the topic: Whether you used the OtherOS feature or not, letting a company get away with taking away a feature that your console had from day 1 is unacceptable. Although the PS3′s EULA and TOS claim you agree to them making any modifications they want to your console, people should know that those agreements are not above the Federal or State Law in your region. As a consumer you have the right to be protected from these situations. Companies cannot advertise features that come as a bundle only to then turn around and force you to choose between them as if they were mutually exclusive. Regardless how Sony wants their services to perform or look or cost, you have the right as a PS3 owner to be able to be able to enjoy them all. In this case, Sony is offering no such choice. PSN, Games, BluRay Movies, and OtherOS are features listen on the box and you thus have the right to all of them. I encourage any PS3 Phat owner to join up and file class action lawsuits against Sony. At the very least, file a complaint to the consumer protection agency or

What Has Made The Sony Playstation So Popular?

What Has Made The Sony Playstation So Popular?

The Sony Corporation managed 2 major feats and hit 1 bird with 2 stones, when it brought to the world the Sony Playstation product line. It managed to take Nintendo’s place as supreme games machine, and made realistic 3D games a reality.

For many years Nintendo was number one with it set of consoles. Nintendo was thought of as the only console manufacturer with a product dedicated to great gaming. However, something amazing happened on the consumer front, and that was talk of Sony about to produce a breakthrough gaming device, soon to be called the PlayStation.

Sony has always been at the forefront of consumer electronics. It is the undisputed king! Sony has given us the Walkman, an invention which has been the inspiration of the iPod. Sony and Philips were the first to create the CD technology we see today. As Nintendo approached Sony for help in creating a CD based console, and they began working together, problems started with contracts. In the end Sony released a product called the Sony PlayStation.

The results were amazing. People from all across the world were waiting for mass release for this amazing gaming device. People would pay extortionate amounts to get one shipped from Japan.

So, what has made the Playstation so popular? We know that Sony is at the forefront of technology innovation. They simply always amaze the world with there new inventions which people long for. The CD technology in the Playstation range of products has enabled the games to hold more information. And bigger space, allows bigger and better games.

The original Sony PlayStation was launched in Japan in 1994, and ’95 saw the Sony PlayStation released all across the world. It shared a massive 11 years of availability, and in 2006 Sony stopped the production. However, that was not the end of the Sony Playstation; people just couldn’t have enough of the high grade graphics available.

Sony came in with the Sony PlayStation II. A console which when released had exponentially better graphics, and games than the first. The bigger benefit was that it was backward compatible with existing PlayStation 1 games. This made getting the PS2 much more of a bargain.

The PS2 was so powerful that Japan initially imposed export restrictions on the PS2. The PS2 was even said to contain parts, especially its powerful graphics hardware, which could be used to simulate the effects of military ballistic missiles! No wonder it became so popular.

After its release in 2000, the PlayStation 2 only took 5 years to become the fastest selling console in history, selling a whopping 100 million units. In fact when it was released, due to shortages, many were sold on eBay for ,000+!

The Sony PlayStation has transformed gaming. It took us out of that 80′s arcade style games to today’s photorealistic 3D games, and worlds which are as big and wide as our Earth! Sony has not stopped there with its great innovation technology. As Microsoft started on the road to creating gaming devices, they released the X Box, Sony made a comeback with the Sony Playstation 3 or PS3. This version contains hardware which makes it as powerful as a PC. Being designed for gaming, it will bring forth games which provide hours and hours of enjoyment with cutting edge graphics, never seen before.

Review of the Official Sony PS3 Wireless Bluetooth Headset

In this video I review the Official Sony PS3 Wireless Bluetooth Headset for the PS3. I rate this headset 10/10. Most commercial USB headsets are compatible with the PlayStation 3. In addition, the PlayStation 3 supports some PlayStation 2 USB accessories, including the USB SOCOM: US Navy SEALs headset by Logitech, the SingStar microphones and the built-in microphone on the Eyetoy for video and voice chat (although the EyeToy Play game associated with the EyeToy is not available for use on European PlayStation 3s ). Since the PlayStation 3 supports Bluetooth technology, any type of wireless headset is compatible with the system; however, Bluetooth wireless headsets are not compatible with PlayStation 2 games which use the USB headsets (due to being programmed for them only) and therefore the USB headsets must still be used (though this could potentially be solved with future firmware updates). On Sept. 12, 2007, Logitech announced new, Cordless Vantage Headset for Playstation 3. The Blu-ray Disc retail version of Warhawk comes bundled with a Jabra BT125 Bluetooth headset in North America and the Jabra BT135 in Europe. On June 27, 2008, it was announced that the headset that will be paired with the Blu-ray Disc version of SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Confrontation will be the official Bluetooth headset for the PlayStation 3 (see image). It will boast exclusive features such as a mute button, and will come with a charging cradle so that it may charge while connected to one of the

Sony PS3

The new PlayStation 3 is the third home video game console from Sony Computer Entertainment and is a successor to the PlayStation 2 as part of the PlayStation series. This model game console comes to compete with Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Nintendo’s Wii as part of the seventh generation of video game consoles.

Sony launched its third version of PlayStation first on November 11, 2006 in Japan, on November 17, 2006 in North America and Asia, and Europe. The Sony PS3 is capable of playing back content from a Blu-ray Disc(BD) at a rate of multiplex 48Mbps, the maximum bit rate defined in BD standards. It is the third generation of the Sony PlaySation that is making waves now.The official unveiling of the Sony PS3 to the public was held on May 16, 2005, during the E3 2005 conference. A functional version of the system was not present there, as a working system was not readily available due to power failures and hardware problem. On September 6, 2006, Sony declared the delay of the launch of the PlayStation 3 until March 2007 due to a shortage of diodes used in the Blu-ray Disc drive.

Later, the release of the PlayStation 3 in Japan was held on November 11, 2006. The PS3 from Sony created a record by making a sale of approximately 600,000 units in its first two days of launch in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Sony later announced that the 80 GB PlayStation 3 would be launched in South Korea on June 16, 2007, in one configuration featuring an 80 GB hard drive. It was for the first time that the Sony PS3 was released with an 80 GB hard disk.

Sony discontinued the 20 GB PlayStation 3 model in North America on September 2007. It was after citing “lack of consumer demand” although the 20 GB model is still on sale in Japan. It is widely speculated that the removal of the 20 GB model from the North American market was to save manufacturing costs, as there is a difference in cost between the two aforementioned models of around .

Today you are going to learn some of the most useful PS3 black screen fix tips that will enable you to accurately and safely repair your Playstation in next to no time and get back to gaming once again.

Quite often the “black screen of death” on the PS3 platform is due to an HDMI connection error. To attempt to fix this you need to turn your PS3 off, then remove the HDMI cable from your console. If this does not work for you then you will need to try a “factory setting” reset for your PS3. It is important to note that this will not actually wipe any save games, gamer profiles, trophies, downloaded games etc from your console, but will instead restore the PS3′s operating system to its factory standard settings. 90% or more of the time this works effectively at getting rid of the PS3 black screen error.

In order to do this you will need to put your PS3 on standby mode (this is where a red light shows in the LED on the front of the console) then hold the touch power button until a series of beeps are heard. Release the button then restart your console and see if this has worked at fixing the black screen of death on your PS3.

Using Ps3 Data Backup Utility Transfer Wizard 3.15 Firmware To Transfer Data From One Ps3 To Another Ps3

Using PS3 Data Backup Utility Transfer Wizard 3.15 FirmwareTo Transfer Data From One PS3 to Another PS3

The recent 3.15 firmware update, enables existing PS3 owners who purchase a new PS3 system (perhaps as a second unit for the household) to transfer their content from their current PS3 to the new system. Content such as games, game save data, and videos downloaded from PlayStation Network can be transferred to the new PS3 system and deleted from the current PS3 system. Other content, including personal media files (photos, music, videos), can be copied onto the new PS3 and remain on the current PS3 system.

Here’s a quick primer on how the Data Transfer Utility works.

Data Transfer Utility

Turn both the current PS3 (A) and new PS3 (B) on and connect them with a LAN cable; PS3 (A) should be connected to the TV. Please note, firmware (v3.15) must be installed on both systems.
On the XMB of PS3 (A), scroll to the Settings category and select [System Settings] and then [Data Transfer Utility]
Follow the instructions on-screen and transfer data
After transferring the data, follow the instructions on-screen, and then connect PS3 (B) to the TV to view the XMB
If content that was downloaded from PlayStation Store was transferred as part of this operation, you must activate PS3 (B) before you can use the data. Log in to the PS3 system as the user who owns the content, and then select (PlayStation Network) > (Account Management) > (System Activation) to activate the system.

More details on Data Transfer Utility will be available here

“minis”

The 3.15 update also enables “minis” to be played on a PS3 system.“minis” launched on PlayStation Network recently in conjunction with the launch of PSPgo. These bite-sized games offer a more casual experience and are ideal for shorter gameplay sessions. Now PS3 owners will be able to play “minis,” and those who own both a PS3 and PSP system will be able to play on either platform. “minis” for the PS3 system will be available for download on PlayStation Store. If you’ve purchased any “minis” already for your PSP and the title becomes available for PS3, you’ll simply need to download the title to your PS3.
